Recycling is at the heart of many maker projects. This project will be saving this robot arm from the scrap yard and will provide fun and education for many. We have an older CRS Rotics 5 axis articulated arm that has no controller. (for now) The goal of the first phase of this project is to develop the electronics to control the 5 axis of DC brushed servos on this arm. The second phase will be getting the kinematics and system controls developed to allow for use of the arm in x,y,z and joint modes. The goal is to achieve this using open source technology with a modest budget.
